Colleen Boyd

Colleen M. Boyd

Mrs. Boyd was chosen as a 2006 Teacher of the Year by State College Magazine.

Colleen M. Boyd joined Park Forest Montessori School in 2013 as a Teacher.

Since 1971, Colleen was the Lead Teacher at Children's House. She received her Bachelor of Arts, Elementary Education and History in 1967 from Seton Hill College, Greensburg, PA, and has graduate credits from Pennsylvania State University.

She received Montessori Teacher Training from St. Nicholas Training Centre with credentials in Early Childhood and Elementary Teaching. In 1994, the Pennsylvania State University awarded her a Certificate of Recognition from their Teacher Education program, acknowledging her support of the preservice teacher program.

Rose and Colleen trained under Ms. Homphrey and Ms. Childs who were the Montessori teacher trainers from St. Nicholas Training Centre for Maria Montessori in London, England. Montessori signed all of the diplomas of the students there throughout her life. Rose and Colleeen have traveled in the same career path. They are the same age and have similar experiences in teacher training and school teaching. Because both Rose and Colleen still enjoy teaching, they have decided to share the job at Park Forest Montessori. It will be a flexible arrangement where they will be able to fill in for one another.
